Edwin represents the fifth generation of the Booths family that has led E H Booth & Co Ltd since 1847; a quality food retailer in the North of England. He entered the business immediately after school in 1973 and quickly discovered a hunger for retailing.
As the Chairman of E H Booth & Co Ltd who also operates www.everywine.co.uk. Edwin was quickly able to recognize the potential that Symington’s has to offer the food retail industry. Its Leadership team’s ability to manage complexity and develop and deliver great tasting food that is relevant to consumers in an ever-changing landscape of consumer needs, means that the company is well equipped to help its customer’s achieve their goals as well as deliver value to shareholders.

Edwin was an HRH The Prince Of Wales Business Ambassador for the North West in 2005 and a finalist for the Ernst & Young Master Entrepreneur of the Year (North). He has also been awarded the Institute of Directors, Director of the Year for Lancashire and the North West and been recognised for his business pursuits by the North West Society of Chartered Accountants and as the Lancastrian of the Year in the Be Inspired Business Awards 2009.
Edwin’s personal interests are wide and varied. He holds a private pilot’s licence and takes more than a passing interest in automobiles! Edwin enjoys classical music and maintains his physical fitness through cycling, walking, skiing and playing tennis with family and friends. Edwin and his wife Annie have two young daughters who share his enthusiasm for a full and active life and not least his passion for good food! “I love the “can do” mind set at Symingtons and the hunger to make food that tastes great.”
