Sandra Sharkey

Sandra Sharkey

Quality Manager
Biography

Sandra worked at Trilogy Foods for eleven years, and joined the Symington’s team as Quality Assurance manager when it bought out Trilogy Foods in November 2008. She has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the business that has been key to the integration of the two businesses.

Day-to-day, Sandra is responsible for maintaining specifications, ranging from checking the raw materials that come through the door to ensuring that the final product produced meets the company’s exacting standards. Sandra works closely with both the Symington’s in-house New Product Development (NPD) team, as well as with client NPD teams, calculating exactly how new products will be made on the Symington’s production lines.

“My working life is pretty hectic, but I love the challenges,” said Sandra. “I split my time between number-crunching product specifications as well as spending time on the factory floor, making sure company-wide quality systems are in place and adhered to.”

“There’s a great atmosphere at Symington’s – people enjoy working together as a team. On a personal note, I’ve been able to count on the support of the senior staff here. It’s particularly rewarding when a new product that you’ve spent weeks working on, comes off the production line, and onto the shelves of supermarkets around the country.”

Sandra relaxes by spending time with her grandchildren, as well as playing on her Wii Fit, when she gets a spare second to herself!
